Chris Hemsworth has become a household name for Marvel fans. However, the actor recently revealed that he’s reevaluating his priorities after his recent Disney+ series and may take on fewer acting roles. The “Thor” star underwent genetic tests for “Limitless,” a Disney+ and National Geographic docuseries he hosted. While filming the show, Hemsworth learned that he carries the APOE4 gene, increasing his chances of developing Alzheimer’s.
In a November interview with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth said, “Doing an episode on death and facing your own mortality made me go, ‘Oh, God, I’m not ready to go yet. I want to sit and be in this space with a greater sense of stillness and gratitude.”
Hemsworth continued, “And then you start talking about kids and family and going, ‘Oh, my God, they’re getting older, they’re growing up, and I keep slapping another movie on top of another movie. Before you know it, they’re 18, and they’ve moved out of the house, and I missed the window.” Hemsworth has been hinting at an acting hiatus for a while, but a recently published report suggests that it might come sooner than expected, a choice no doubt tied to his health revelations.

A Page Six report says that the actor will step back from his Hollywood career after he finishes his current projects, a Hulk Hogan biopic, and his next appearance as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hemsworth said he isn’t talking about retirement, but he acknowledged that the genetic testing “triggered something” that led him to reevaluate his life’s priorities.
He explained, “Since we finished the show, I’ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do. Now, when I finish this tour this week, I’m going home, and I’m going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.”
