Former “Spy Kids” star Alexa PenaVega and her husband, Carlos, took to Instagram to announce the devastating news that their fourth child had been a stillbirth. “There are never the right words to say when it comes to loss. After a beautiful and peaceful delivery our daughter ‘Indy’ was born at rest. It has been a painful journey. But in the pain we have found peace. God continues to comfort and hold us in His arms,” the couple wrote in their post. They acknowledged the prayers from their community and called their daughter “absolutely beautiful.” “We can’t understand why things like this happen and we may never get those answers. Indy Rex PenaVega, you completely changed our world.”
This was the couple’s fourth child after marrying in 2014. They announced the pregnancy last November. “Thank God we love adventure. Oh baby here we come! Número cuatro!” said the post. The couple’s other children are Ocean, 7, Kingston, 4, and Rio, 2. The couple have also shared their faith and the ways God has worked in their lives since they were first child actors. At the time of meeting, Alexa was coming out of recovery from an eating disorder and a failed marriage. She attended a Bible study of a mutual friend, where she met Carlos. Carlos himself was a newer Christian, trying to understand the things God was doing in his life. A friendship began, and then a relationship. The couple have often discussed their Christian faith, writing about their experiences in What if Love is the Point?
The couple received support from a number of celebrities, with Danica McKellar of “The Wonder Years” writing “I will hold all of you close in my prayers. I cannot imagine, but I know only God can bring the peace you seek.” McKellar recently came to faith as a result of her friendship with Candace Cameron Bure. Bure also responded to the announcement, writing, “We love you. We love baby Indy. We are praying for you and Los and the kids and the day you all reunite. With all our hearts, we are here for you.” Alexa’s former “Spy Kids” co-star, Daryl Sabara, wrote, “Love you so so much.” Derek Hough, who partnered with Alexa during “Dancing with the Stars’s” switch it up week wrote, “Your words breathe Beauty and strength in a time of grief and loss. I am so sorry for your loss. May your hearts be filled with comfort.” Please pray for the PenaVega family during this time.
