Mark Wahlberg, father of four, spent this Father’s Day giving credit to his wife Rhea Durham. Wahlberg and Durham share four children together: Ella, 20, Michael, 18, Brendan, 15 and Grace, 14. While speaking with Fox News about his Father’s Day plans, Wahlberg made sure to mention his wife and give credit to the mother of his children. “I’m gonna celebrate the memory of my dad,” he shared of his plans for the holiday. “I’m gonna salute all the other dads, and then we’re gonna go right back and give all the credit to all the moms, because we are not s–t without them. It’s all about the moms.” He added, “We get one day,” he said of fathers. “Every other day should be Mother’s Day.”
The actor recently shared his hopes for his children in an interview following the opening of his new restaurant, Flecha. “I just want them to figure out what it is they want to do and then pursue it with all, with everything that they have, to be passionate about it and put in the work, and the best thing I can do is be an example and show them how hard I’m willing to work to be successful and to make my dreams come true,” Wahlberg said. “And I just want them to go out there and work hard. If you work hard, there isn’t anything you can’t accomplish. I try to encourage people, despite where they come from, the obstacles they have to overcome, there isn’t anything you can’t accomplish if you’re willing to do the work.”
In 2012, Wahlberg spoke with “Today” about the importance of fatherhood. “If I succeed as a businessman but fail as a father, then it’s all been for nothing,” he said. “That’s by far the most important role that I’ll ever play in my life — being a parent and being a husband.”
