Zendaya and Tom Holland are taking their relationship to the next level: the couple is engaged.

After nearly four years of dating, Zendaya and Tom Holland, who played love interests in the latest “Spider-Man” films, are reportedly preparing to wed. According to sources close to the couple, the engagement is official.

Speculation about their engagement intensified after Zendaya was seen wearing a stunning diamond ring on her engagement finger at the 2025 Golden Globes on January 5.

A fan shared on X, formerly Twitter, “Well congrats to zendaya and tom on the engagement i think?? That is a ROCK.”

When a reporter directly asked if she was engaged, Zendaya replied with a shrug and a knowing smile.

Tom Holland’s proposal to Zendaya has been in the works for some time. It’s been reported that the Marvel actor sought approval from an important family member long before proposing. Sources close to the couple revealed that Tom met with Zendaya’s father, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, months ago to ask for her hand in marriage. As a traditional person, Tom felt it was crucial to get Kazembe’s blessing first, which was gladly given. Zendaya’s family is thrilled about this new chapter, and sources say they adore Tom, describing him as a class act.

The couple first made waves in July 2021 when they were spotted showing affection in public, though rumors of a relationship had been circulating since 2017. Fans had long speculated that they were more than just co-stars. Despite the rumors, both Tom and Zendaya, both 28, denied them at the time, explaining in interviews that they were just friends and often joked about the speculation on social media.

Fast-forward four years, and their on-screen chemistry was mirrored in real life. Even though they kept their romance private, Zendaya has spoken about what she values most about her on-screen superhero co-star.

“In an actor way, I appreciate that he really loves being Spider-Man,” she told InStyle in October 2021. “It’s a lot of pressure—you take on the role of a superhero wherever you go. To the little kid who walks by, you are Spider-Man. I think he handled that so well.”

She enjoyed watching the action on set as MJ.

“Our director allowed me to come in every day [of the shoot],” she explained. “And it was cool to see how he cares so much about his work and making it right. I watched him do a fight scene all day, which is exhausting. He’d do a move, come back to the monitors, watch it, and say, ‘I can do that better.’ I’d be like, ‘Dude, you got it.’ But he wants us to be perfect, and I really appreciate that.”

What Zendaya also appreciates is Tom’s fun nature. “Very charismatic, she added. [He] can make anybody feel comfortable and have a good laugh and a good chat.”

The couple has shown their affection for each other in subtle ways, like wearing matching jerseys and sharing sweet Instagram posts. However, Tom has expressed the importance of maintaining their privacy.

“I share so much of my life with the world anyway,” he told GQ in November 2021. Referring to their much-discussed PDA photo, he said, “We sort of felt robbed of our privacy. I don’t think it’s about not being ready. It’s just that we didn’t want to.”

Zendaya agreed to keep their relationship private and meaningful. “The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own, she told the outlet. I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other.”
