Christian former NBA player, Jeremy Lin, recently announced in a lengthy Facebook post that he has been married for the past two years. “After many years of being together, I married my wife in an intimate ceremony and it’s been the highlight of my life ever since. Finally sharing this beautiful day from over a couple years ago,” he wrote in the post. “I always knew that when I got married I’d want to keep my personal life sacred and to myself for as long as I could,” he continued. Lin w explained why he decided to keep the marriage a secret by saying, “The funny thing about becoming famous overnight is no one teaches you how to deal with it…While I still feel strongly about guarding aspects of my personal life, it has also been hard for people to not know about such a major change.”
Lin began his basketball career by playing at Harvard University, before signing with his hometown NBA team, The Golden State Warriors in 2010. During his first few years in the NBA, Lin made a name for himself, earning the nickname “Linsanity” from his performance as point guard with the New York Knicks in the 2012 NBA playoffs. That same year, he landed a cover on Sports Illustrated and was named Breakthrough Player of the Year at the ESPY Awards. In 2019, Lin won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors. After finally winning a championship, Lin announced that he would be retiring from basketball in December 2022 after playing one season in the Chinese Basketball Association.
The athlete regularly shares his faith on his large platforms, detailing how his faith has helped him get through tough times throughout his career. In 20187, Lin suffered a severe knee injury, making him miss the entire 2017-2018 NBA season, but Lin remained faithful during the injury. “There is a lot of delving into God’s promises that there is a perfect plan, that I need to just continue to be faithful and worry about what I can control…I do feel like I’m in God’s favor.”
