Paul Asay put together a cast of characters for an imaginary “Genesis: The Movie,” with suggested celebrities to fill the roles. My favorite moment:
She has no lines. She has no name. Lot’s wife is famous for one thing: turning into a pillar of salt when she took one last glance at the doomed cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. All of which makes Denise Richards–a beautiful actress with dubious talent–perfect for this role.Â
Asay is right that Genesis, with all that sex and treachery and sex and travel and land-conquering and sex, has all the makings of an epic movie. But it should be noted that no less formidable a talent than John Huston attempted a large-scale production of the thing, with results that were, um, not exactly riveting:Â
