The internet is heating up over the upcoming Britney Spears album Femme Fatale.  While educating myself on the latest Britney news I become aware of something that slipped under my radar.  Oh how I wish it had stayed there.

Did you know that Britney Spears was the top selling female artist of the last decade?

Just take a minute to let that sink in.  With 100 million albums sold Britney Spears topped artists like Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Norah Jones, Pink, and Carrie Underwood.

Wow.

Now to be fair, her success really only challenges my faith in humanity.  It is clear that Britney’s questionable parenting techniques and unique hair decisions kept her in the public eye enough to spur album sales throughout an entire decade.  That isn’t exactly shocking in a world where Ke$ha has multiple hit singles.  Even though this fact blows my mind it is really just another reminder that we are a broken, broken people.

As far as God is concerned, it is just a reminder that the G-man has one wicked sense of humor.
