Tonight two contestants had to be sent home, and the unfortunate ones were Naima Adedapo  and Thia Megia.  Joining them in the bottom three was future Crest spokesman Paul McDonald.  Stefano Langone and Casey Abrams were both safe after last week’s scare, and apparently Casey’s numbers took a huge leap this week.

While both ousted contestants stayed interesting from week to week, they never seemed to really have a breakout performance to solidify their place in the competition.  Naima often struggled with pitch problems and confusion over whether this was So You Think You Can Dance or American Idol, while Thia was always solid yet somehow unimpressive.  Due to Thia’s youth this is entirely understandable, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we see her on American Idol again in the future.  As for Naima, I fear that she may be one of the many Idol contestants that we never hear from again.

Again, can we vote off that horrible cover of “Don’t You Forget About Me”?  Sorry David, it is really, really bad.
