One additional point that didn’t make it into the article itself–there are ten commandments (as most people know). Typically, scholars divide them into two categories. The first four are about humans in relation to God (things like don’t take the name of the Lord in vain or worship idols). The last six are about humans in relation to other humans (things like don’t steal, lie, cheat, etc.). But it seems to me that the Sabbath command, command number four, is a hinge between the two. It is both about humans in relation to God and to one another. Read the article and see what you think…
