Time has an article this week, “Good News About Grief” that debunks some of the myths about grieving. It counters the standard Elixabeth Kubler-Ross “Five Stages of Grief” paradigm, and suggests that we don’t grieve in stages, we don’t need to express our grief, grief is harder on men, grief has an ending point, and counseling isn’t all it’s cut out to be.

There’s a new prenatal screening test that has been developed so that Down syndrome (and other genetic abnormalities) can be detected without amniocentesis. “Can a New Blood Test Make Babies with Down Syndrome Disappear?” I’m hoping to run a series of posts next week in response to this article.
Finally, from this month’s Atlantic, “The Rise of the New Global Elite” made me think about the responsibility of the wealthy in relation to “the poor.” I’m hoping to write a post that connects this article to Tim Keller’s new book, Generous Justice–my first favorite book of 2011.
