There’s something calming about standing near the ocean, feeling the sand beneath your feet.
On a recent trip, it stuck me that each grain of sand could represent a memory. These memories can be beautiful ones that remind us of all the gifts we have been given and how God has been present in our lives.
The grains of sand might represent unpleasant memories, especially when shards of broken shells are intermingled.
Next time you go to the beach, or even imagine a beach in your mind, think about what those grains can represent in your life. Pick up a handful of sand, let a grain or two go at a time and say a prayer of thanksgiving for the memories and let go of things that may hold you back.
