The very next town to Treeleaf, Tsukuba happens to have, according to Guinness World Records, THE WORLD’S TALLEST BUDDHA IN THE WHOLE WORLD!! (and maybe the world’s tallest statue in the whole world!!), taller than the Statue of Liberty, the Obelisk in Trafalgar Square and even Godzilla (imagine what this ‘Buddhzilla’ would do stompin’ on Tokyo if he were not so peaceful) !!
The image is of Amida Buddha, and the interior is a golden, laser lighted, fantastical recreation of the Buddha’s Pure Land. And while I like my Buddhas ‘beyond big or small’, some folks sure like their Buddha’s BIG! (you can read more about the statue HERE)
