Michigan priest arrested in sex sting

The 35-year-old priest worked as an associate pastor at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland, which is located between Lansing and Grand Rapids. Beas, who church officials said was ordained in Pakistan in 1994, transferred to St. Patrick’s in November 2001 after spending about six months serving as an associate pastor at Holy Family Parish in Sparta.

Cox said investigators believe Beas borrowed a parishioner’s car to make the trip after making contact with an investigator posing as a girl in an Internet chat room. Authorities from Warren set up a house as the destination for the sting and arrested Beas after he drove down the block
