LOC trying to build a university in NY

A proposal to build a 3,000-student Catholic university in Thornwood drew more than 110 residents to a Planning Board meeting at Town Hall last night.

The Legion of Christ, a conservative Roman Catholic order, has applied for permission to construct a $200 million school on a 165-acre site the order purchased eight years ago from IBM Corp. for $33.4 million.
