How do you people live in really big cities? I mean…how?

Even the suburbs of Chicago are a nightmare, in my opinion, even if you avoid downtown altogether. This is not a scene totally unfamiliar to me, having spent a great deal of time in both Tampa and Orlando, which have similar problems. I thought about this yesterday as I drove to the grocery store here in about five minutes – my experience of St. Charles, of Bloomingdale, of Rosemont…all suburbs we dwelt in last week (not to mention the purported “express” reversible lanes on the highways) – showed me that such simple movement is well nigh impossible, except in the middle of the night, perhaps.

Of course, cake, eating too. You get what you pay for…or drive to, I guess. If there’s hardly anything to do, I guess that means there’s no traffic.
