in NC got mobilized to send over $25,000 worth of stuff:

Julie Hoffman said that since Thursday morning they had collected or purchased between $25,000 and $50,000 worth of goods by 2 p.m. Friday.

Officials will collect supplies from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, she said. A tractor-trailer will take supplies to Atlanta to be distributed by the U.S. Navy Reserve.

"A direct pipeline has been established that will continue over the next few months or as needed," Hoffman said. "This is going to be airlifted from Atlanta into either New Orleans or some other disaster area."
