We were pursuing the Spring ’06 offerings from Harper SanFrancisco – a remarkably diverse line that season, with authors from Bart Ehrman to N.T.Wright and beyond. They definitely have a clear sense of their intended market: everyone.

Anyway, we happened across this forthcoming title, which we imagined might just be the shortest book ever published: The Last Week: A Day by Day Account of Jesus’ Final Week in Jerusalem. Authors? Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan.

How can it possibly be more than one page long?

None of it happened.

The End

We also noted, I think, 3 Da Vinci Code related books – from this one publisher – coming out in the spring. Forbidden Faith: The Gnostic Legacy from the Gospels to the Da Vinci CodeThe Gospels of Mary: The Secret Traditions of Mary, the Companion of JesusThe Jesus Papers: Exposing the Greatest Cover-Up in History. The last is by Michael Baigent, one of the authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail.

How cynical! To take advantage of this cultural moment in this fashion!
