With this Rome stuff, everything has hinged on when we’d get our Scavi tour reservations. Well, I got the confirmation today – two weeks after I submitted the request, which is pretty quick. But we are going off-season and I gave them almost a full week that was open. So, Thursday morning, March 2 for the Scavi. Got our General Audience tickets, as well. The Papal Ash Wednesday liturgy at St. Sabina looks hopeless – the sister in the US Bishop’s office for Rome visitors at the NAC said that even if tickets were available, once all the clergy got in there, there was probably no room for anyone else! But there is a procession from St. Anselm to St. Sabina before the liturgy, so perhaps we can squeeze along the street for that.
Onward!
(And yes to questions – this is my first visit to Rome. First visit to Europe. MIchael’s been places here and there, including, of course, his year in Turkey, but Canada and Mexico mark the extent of my international travel. And by "Mexico" I mean "An hour in Nogales" which may not even count.)
