Sort of. We’ll get there on Saturday morning, wiped out and confused, but with hopefully enough energy just to look around and orient ourselves. Believe it or not, I actually have to meet with someone on Saturday afternoon, but since it’s in, you know, Rome, it will be novel enough in itself.

Sunday, what’s set in stone are catching the Angelus and then, after lunch, meeting up with an acquaintance who will guide us through St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major and points in between. Don’t worry – he knows what he’s doing, and we’re really looking foward to it.

Monday, what’s set is an interview I’m doing at 3 near St. Peter’s – before and after it will be "choose from the list and see where we want to go."

Tuesday lunch will be with an acquaintance and some people he’s gathered for us to meet, in Trastevere – after lunch, he (or they? I don’t know) will guide us through the places we want to see there. Late Tuesday, pick up General Audience tix. Tuesday evening, dinner with some folks.

Wednesday: General Audience at 11, then Ash Wednesday at St. Sabina’s at 5:30 – I have no hope of getting in, but perhaps we will see the Pope relatively up close at some point. Day of Fast and Abstinence!

Thursday morning – Scavi tour, evening, Theology on Tap Rome. Friday, Sat and Sunday…nothing yet!

It looks busy, but it’s not.  Some of our meetings will involve touring with people who will really help us appreciate what we’re seeing more. The evening meets will be during times that we really can’t do much anyway, so…why not?

I started to do my list of must-sees, but I could see right away it would take too long. So…we’ll just see. We are not taking computers with us, but I have every intention of trying to check email/blog a second every day when we’re away. It’s self-preservation. I can’t come back to a thousand emails I have to plough through. And that’s what will happen, if I don’t clean them out as we go!
