A Pope and a Cardinal…

First, Benedict’s words to the Roman parish he visited after Mass, here:

The faith must be promoted because outside of Italy it is thought that in Rome there are only ceremonies and ecclesiastical bureaucracy, but that there is no great ecclesial life. The latter, however, can be seen precisely on the outskirts of Rome. Rome is young, the Church is always young again. For me it is lovely to see this participation and I can only say thank you and encourage you to continue, under the guidance of your parish priest.

And already now, I wish you all a happy Easter!

Cardinal Levada lends a hand to his titular parish:

"I would like to come frequently to be with you, to share your parish community’s journey and proclaim to the world that the Church of Christ is love for us and for the world," said the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, during a solemn celebration Sunday afternoon.

"I also want to take part in our parish’s charitable mission," the U.S.-born cardinal said. "Charity to others truly demonstrates the authentic nature of God, which is ‘charity.’"
