Zadok has a really interesting post – he went over to San Croce to see the exhibit I mentioned, and expands on what it is, exactly (can my excuse be that I don’t read Italian?)

It turns out that the exhibition is essentially a collection of pieces from the sacristies of various Roman Churches. (Never turn down the opportunity to visit a Roman sacristy… it’s often as impressive as most churches elsewhere.) The van Dyck crucifixion (does anyone have an on-line im age?) is from the sacristy of San Marcello al Corso is indeed fascinating.

Go to Zadok for more, and for a photo that captures the St. Francis statue in the correct angle in relationship to St. John Lateran, and a great bit of Roman grafitti!
