First of all, I’ll tell you that on my trip, I read Wright’s Paul: In Fresh Perspective, a short, meaty book in which he brings together the highlights of all of his previous work on Paul. Simply put, having not read his previous Pauline commentary, this little book jostled my world fairly severely, in a good way. It gave me a lot to think about, which I will blog on some time later.

Secondly, here’s a good piece from an Australian paper – Wright has been speaking there, and this article centers on his commentary on the Resurrection.

Third (and in reference to this post title) – there’s this:

Dr Wright, an evangelical theologian, says that Brown’s novel “corresponds to what a great many people want to believe and to do, rather than to the hard and bracing challenge of the very Jewish gospel of Jesus.” It “appears to legitimate a free-for-all, do-it-yourself spirituality”. The bishop’s response, Decoding Da Vinci, is to be published by Grove Books weeks before the film is released.

Well, I imagine it’s a packaging of the lectures he gave at Seattle Pacific University last year. (scroll down for the link)  I’ll forgive him, since he probably does a far better job than I [one of the greatest living New Testament scholars "probably" does a better job? how generous of you…] and perhaps a little bit of title confusion won’t hurt us over here. Who knows! Everyone into the Da Vinci Pool!
