Troubles continue for Bishop Leonard Blair and the Toledo diocese. Blair and the diocese are named in another lawsuit filed Wednesday in Wyandot County Common Pleas court by St. Joseph-Salem Save Our Parish.
St. Joseph parish, Carey, was closed in July 2005. The parish was consolidated with St. Mary parish in Kirby and St. Peter parish in Upper Sandusky under the name “The Transfiguration of the Lord.”
James Gucker, the attorney for Save Our Parish, said monetary assets from St. Joseph, totaling $124,710, then were transferred to the new parish. Judge Kathleen Aubry is to hear the case.
“My clients are not litigious people, but the bishop has refused to meet with them,” Gucker said. “They had to do something. They cannot just let the parish sit closed.”
