at the entrance to the parish church (S.Martino di Cinisello Balsamo) because they did not have any budget for "guards" to keep out indiscretely dressed visitors.

This got translated into English by Reuters in Rome:

The English version of the sign is:

God knew what your navel looked like even before you were born, so there is no need to expose it in church.

Wow! I don’t think the sign is that big! A rather "expansive" English translation. The parish is in a town 2 km northeast of Milano, right in the "fashion heart" of Italy.
