Old Zhou writes to share enviable news and an invite:

We (me and Mrs. Zhou) fly to Rome next Tuesday, arriving Wednesday Sep 6.

We’ll be staying at the home of our good friend, St. Gregory the Great while in Rome, until Tues Sep 12 (Monasterio di San Gregorio Magno al Celio). We plan to do nothing in Rome. Well, stop at the Campo di Fiori market in the morning, picnic for lunch, and wander around to drink espresso and eat gelato.

After that we drop by St. Benedict’s birthplace (Norcia) on the way to the Monastery in Valledacqua (in the mountains), and take a day trip to Loreto. A few days later we relocate to St. Peter Damian’s place, Ven. Eremo in Fonte Avellana for a while. Day trip to Assisi.

After that we pass through Ravenna on the way to a monastery on the side of Lake Garda, near Verona, between Garda and Bardolino on the east shore. Day trip to Verona.

Then we go back south in the Appenines to Camaldoli for a week (monastery of St. Romuald), with day trips to Montepulciano and Piensa one day, and Siena another day.

Finally, back to Rome and fly out on Tues Sep 26.

If any of your readers want get together in Rome (probably not possible in the more remote places), have them send me an email at transfig-28@sbcglobal.net
