Yesterday was the third annual West Coast March for Life out in San Francisco

Here’s the SF Chronicle Report

This year’s rally included an invocation by San Francisco Archbishop George Niederauer, whose prayer asked God to "renew a readiness (among people) to nurture and sustain your precious gift of life."

While speakers at Justin Herman Plaza compared the fight against abortion to the civil rights struggle, defenders of legal abortion held a small but spirited counter-rally at Pier 7 under a banner proclaiming, "Forward Not Back: Reproductive Justice for All."

As the anti-abortion march began moving slowly up the Embarcadero, the counter-protesters waved pro-choice signs and chanted such slogans as, "Our body! Our lives! Our right to decide!" behind metal barriers.

Police soon allowed the counter-rally to march alongside the opponents — with a buffer zone maintained not only by several dozen officers but by joggers, tourists and other people drawn to the Embarcadero on a mild Saturday afternoon.

The march attracted more than 20,000 participants, organizers claimed, with charter buses bringing people from as far as San Diego and Reno. But local residents took part as well.

Last year, this fellow attended and took many interesting photographs of the abortion rights supporters who protested. I don’t know if he was back this year.

If you attended, please share your experience!
