Phone rings
Katie: Hey, Mom, remember last week when I told you I got my opponent really frustrated?
Me: Yeah…
Katie: And you said, ‘What are you going to tell me next week, that you made your opponent cry?”
Me: Uh-huh…
Katie: Well….
(And yes, I did tell her that she has to be very, very careful, for aggressiveness and assertiveness could work against her if she’s perceived as just being mean, running up the score, as it were.)
(And for the debate geeks out there. It’s Lincoln-Douglas, and the resolution has something to do with plea bargaining.)
