I was remiss the other day in not giving props to Sacred Heart Radio in Cincinnati – a great, relatively new Catholic station. (correction…or not, per Fr. Kyle!) On which I “appeared” at 6:40 this morning. Was I coherent? I’m not really sure.
Anyway, they’re are doing great stuff down there, as are all local Catholic radio stations – it’s one of the wonderful growth areas in Catholic life these days, all over the country.
And I want to re-emphasize something from the other day – it takes all kinds. We need the kind of programming provided by more catechetically-oriented media, and that presented by more casual, Catholic lifestyle kind of programming. Plus, as I said, we need more, more, more of everything. Someone wrote me last night and said he’d sort of imagined being the Catholic Charlie Rose. I agreed, saying that I wanted to be the Catholic Melvyn Bragg or Andrew Marr. While retaining my gender, of course. (And no, I don’t want to be the Catholic Diane Rehm. I don’t really like her style. These other two fellows are more objective and more intelligent and broadly knowledgeable.)
In our Church, which encompasses Dominicans, Franciscans and Jesuits – Opus Dei and Communion and Liberation – we live and support the many ways in which the Spirit moves through human hearts, bringing us closer to the Lord.
