Just a couple of notes recently received from kind readers who took the time to email and let me know that they appreciated books mentioned here:

At the beginning of the year I prayed for the gift of silence.  The year has not been going well at all in respects to this prayer; then I started reading this book.

The book…The Gift of Faith.

And then from a long-time reader, who’d written me with a question I have unfortunately forgotten, but in answer to which I recommended a book: Why Matter Matters: Philosophical and Scriptural Reflecitons on the Sacraments.

…what a great treatise. It’s one of those books that makes one revisit everything one holds dear and look at each thing through it like a prism. I’ve just begun, but chapter one alone is like a prolepsis, a densely packed version of what (I hope) the rest of the book will visit in turn. BTW, I’m realizing what a gnostic I’ve been for much of my life!
