150 human animal hybrids grown in UK labs: Embryos have been produced secretively for the past three years (the following is from the UK Daily Mail)  Click here for full articleThe hybrids have been produced secretively over the past three years by researchers looking into possible cures for a wide range of diseases. The revelation comes just a day after a committee of scientists warned of a nightmare ‘Planet of the Apes’ scenario in which work on human-animal creations goes too far.

Undercover: Scientists have been growing human animal hybrids in secret for the last three years. Last night a campaigner against the excesses of medical research said he was disgusted that scientists were ‘dabbling in the grotesque’.

Figures seen by the Daily Mail show that 155 ‘admixed’ embryos, containing both human and animal genetic material, have been created since the introduction of the 2008 Human Fertilisation Embryology Act.

This legalised the creation of a variety of hybrids, including an animal egg fertilised by a human sperm; ‘cybrids’, in which a human nucleus is implanted into an animal cell; and ‘chimeras’, in which human cells are mixed with animal embryos.

OCA President Chris Long stated, “This confirmed report of animal-human hybrids being created in laboratories in the United Kingdom proves the necessity of outlawing the practice here in America, and specifically in Ohio laboratories.  It is urgent that we pass legislation that restricts such outrageous human-animal experimentation.”

Dr. David Prentice of the Family Research Council came and testified on behlf ofH.B. 171, Ohio’s Ban on Animal-Human Hybrid.  Dr. Prentice made the following statement, “Creating ‘experimental humans’ through nuclear transfer cloning or as animal-human hybrids is an unethical use of science, and will not lead to useful medical treatments for patients.  This bill should be passed quickly and the focus should be on ethical and successful research that puts the patients first.”

ACTION ITEM:  Call the offices of your State Representatives on Monday and urge them to support H.B. 171, Ohio’s Ban on Animal-Human Hybrid and Human Cloning.

Legislative update:  Ohio’s Ban on Late Term Abortion, H.B. 78, was signed into law by Governor John Kasich.  Ohio Christian Alliance commends Governor Kasich and the members of The Ohio Legislation who enacted this legislation to ban late term abortion in Ohio at 20 weeks of gestation and on.  OCA President Chris Long stated, “This is a significant piece of legislation that was long overdue.  Thanks to the pro-life voters of this state who set the course by electing pro-life legislators who share their views that all human life is sacred and is deserving of protection under the law.”
