Re: Philadelphia Food Police to Eradicate ‘Food Deserts’

I have battled with my weight all of my life, like most people battle with paying taxes!  I hate it!  I eat very healthy, but nevertheless, I have always been the first one to gain weight by just looking at a homemade pie or a dumpling!  Since I was 15, I have never drank a soda pop that was NOT a diet beverage!  That’s 53 years of NEVER drinking a high-sugar-filled Pepsi or Coke! I drank TAB long before we had tasty sugar substitutes that have improved the taste of everything diet including the iced tea sitting next to me on my desk, sweetened with a safe artificial calorie-free, carb-free sweetener and fresh lemon slices.  Frankly, the TAB (made by Coke) of my youth tasted more like a carbonated dead BAT (spell TAB backwards) than Coca-cola.

I never add sugar to anything!

I have been on every diet ever invented by mankind, doctors, and all the money-grubbing shysters as well!

I’ve read more books about food, diets and nutrition than most college graduates have read by the time they acquire their PhD in any subject!

I know more about nutrition than a diabetic consultant!

Sure, I’d like to see more low-carb foods available as substitutes for the high-sugar laden, carb-stuffed poundage putter on-ers!

Here come da FOOD NAZI's! Michele Obama Leading the Attack!

Still, I do NOT want the Michele Obama’s FOOD POLICE telling my grocer or anyone what you and I can and cannot eat or dictate what they must or must not sell.  It is a loss of your and my rights as free citizens of the USA — living under the freedoms guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution.

Peter's Dream - Vision - Regarding eating all foods (all things are clean) Acts 10:1-48, Acts 11:1-18

In the New Testament, when Peter had his dream (Acts 10 & 11) I learned in Sunday School long ago that meant that all the Old Testament dietary rules and regulations were put aside.  You and I are free in Christ to make our own decisions!  Jesus Christ made it clear that it isn’t what is put into the mouth that defiles a man, but what comes out!  (Matthew 15:11)

U. S. Constitution, We the People are Guaranteed that the Federal Government will not trample our Inalienable rights (God-given rights)

The U.S. Constitution was never constructed with the intent to cripple businesses and/or constrict the individual.  The whole reason for the U.S. Constitution is to limit the power of the central federal government — and the primary purpose of the U.S. Constitution is there to protect us from the likes of Michele Obama and the FOOD NAZI’S.

The U. S. Constitution is the ONLY document of it’s kind, made to guarantee the inalienable rights we are GIVEN by God long before the U.S. Constitution was constructedNow that includes eating all things!

I want Michele Obama and her Nazi Food Police Force to get out of your and my White House, out of our kitchens, out of our grocery stores, out of our restaurants and out of your and my lives!  Got it?  Can I be any plainer?  More blunt!  Go away, Michele!  Take you and your husband and get out of the communist/socialist business of trying to control each and everything we Americans were FREE to do before the communist thugs got your husband elected!  You think his getting elected has given you The Dictatorial Powers of the First Lady in Chef and Chief of the Nazi Food Police.  PLEASE JUST LEAVE US ALONE!

Obama crossing off Bill of Rights

Believe me, there is a hidden agenda Michele and Obama have in mind — and it’s not about curing obesity!  It is about taking away your rights and putting those rights (freedom stealers)  into the hands of dictatorial centralized government who will eventually dictate every thing you can and cannot do — which is diabolically opposed to what the Founding Father’s and God’s Agenda and Plan for America was in 1776.

If you don’t understand this, get yourself educated because you are losing what is YOUR GOD-GIVEN RIGHTS, not from man, but given to you by Your Creator, Jesus Christ, and you’re losing them on a daily basis!

Dictators cannot tolerate Jesus Christ because to be in Christ is to be free indeed!

[John 8:36]  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Read about unalienable Rights:

The absolute rights of individuals may be resolved into the right of personal security, the right of personal liberty, and the right to acquire and enjoy property. These rights are declared to be natural, inherent, and unalienable. Atchison & N. R. Co. v. Baty, 6 Neb. 37, 40, 29 Am. Rep. 356.

By the “absolute rights” of individuals is meant those which are so in their primary and strictest sense, such as would belong to their persons merely in a state of nature, and which every man is entitled to enjoy, whether out of society or in it. The rights of personal security, of personal liberty, and private property do not depend upon the Constitution for their existence. They existed before the Constitution was made, or the government was organized. These are what are termed the “absolute rights” of individuals, which belong to them independently of all government, and which all governments which derive their power from the consent of the governed were instituted to protect. People v. Berberrich (N. Y.) 20 Barb. 224, 229; McCartee v. Orphan Asylum Soc. (N. Y.) 9 Cow. 437, 511, 513, 18 Am. Dec. 516; People v. Toynbee (N. Y.) 2 Parker, Cr. R. 329, 369, 370 (quoting 1 Bl. Comm. 123).

Chancellor Kent (2 Kent, Comm. 1) defines the “absolute rights” of individuals as the right of personal security, the right of personal liberty, and the right to acquire and enjoy property. These rights have been justly considered and frequently declared by the people of this country to be natural, inherent, and inalienable, and it may be stated as a legal axiom [A principle that is not disputed; a maxim] that since the great laboring masses of our country have little or no property but their labor, and the free right to employ it to their own best interests and advantage, it must be considered that the constitutional inhibition against all invasion of property without due process of law was as fully intended to embrace and protect that property as any of the accumulations it may have gained. In re Jacobs (N. Y.) 33 Hun, 374, 378.

Will Philadelphia’s experiment in eradicating ‘food deserts’ work?

By , Published: June 8

View Photo Gallery: A city grappling with obesity begins stocking corner store shelves with nutritious snack alternatives.

Philadelphia has the highest obesity rate and poorest population of America’s big cities. It also has an ambitious plan — launched out of 632 corner stores — to put healthy food on every table.

The $900,000 investment in better health depends on apples and oranges, chips and candy, $1,200 fridges and green plastic baskets. The results could steer the course of American food policy.

Philadelphia is trying to turn corner stores into greengrocers. For a small shop, it’s a risky business proposition. Vegetables have a limited shelf life, so a store owner must know how much will sell quickly — or watch profits rot away. He also lacks the buying power of large supermarkets and is often unable to meet the minimum orders required by the cheaper wholesalers that grocery stores use.

With shelf space at a premium, shop owners must pick and choose the products they think will sell best. Chips and candy and soda are a sure bet. Eggplant? It’s hard to know.

Access to healthy foods has been a cornerstone of the Obama administration’s food policy, dedicating hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds to projects like this one. The goal is to eradicate food deserts — low-income areas that lack access to nutritious foods — by 2017.

“More parents will have a fresh food retailer right in their community — a place that sells healthy food, at reasonable prices, so they can feed their families the way they want,” first lady Michelle Obama said when she launched the White House’s $400 million Healthy Food Financing Initiative.

More than just a drain on families, obesity is a huge economic drag: The United States spends $147 billion each year treating the condition.

But even as the White House has scaled up such efforts, a growing body of research has questioned its basic assumption: that people will eat better if given better options. Multiple studies have scoured local, state and national data looking for a causal relationship between weight and access to healthy food. None has found it.

“It’s a theory that makes sense, and it’s intuitive,” says Helen Lee, a policy fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California, whose research focuses on racial disparities in health outcomes. “But my concern would be that we’re investing in a strategy that may not be very promising. If you’re investing government money, you should carefully be evaluating how much you’ve invested and how much you’re getting out of that.”
