Blessings are like radio signals. The signals bounce off telephone wires and transit signals to our cell phones, TV’s computers and other things that we need to make this life easier. The blessings we get in life are similar to how they bounce off of us, or hit us smack dab between the eyes and right in our hearts. We sometimes hear them, see them and even feel them. Some days we take them for granted and other days we know they are from God, because of the feelings that we get in our hearts. We have the free choice not to mention the free will from God to choose to take in the blessings of each day, or to tune out the blessings from Him each day.
We have a choice to look at each day as a blessing, or to think of each day as a burden. If we look at each day as a burden, we are only seeing the negativity that Satan puts into our lives. Every day he prowls around us and in our minds, thoughts words and our actions looking for a way to devour us. If we wake up with constant negativity about how bad we have it in this life, he’s already won and has his power over us. But, when we look at each day as a blessing from God, we not only feel happier, but the people around us also see how much calmer and nicer we are to them and they may want to follow the same example we are giving. We also feel calmer when faced with challenging tasks because we know that God is and always will be with us.
There will be days that knock us to the ground, but the important thing is to get back up with the confidence that only God can give us on days like that. We have to remain strong in our faith and remember that it is all about the perspective we have each day. Our perspective controls how we look at each blessing that bounces off of us day to day. It determines whether we see it, feel it or hear it or if we push it aside and take it for granted. We can choose to find our blessings even among the struggles that we face. After all, God has designed the struggles in life to give us lessons we can fully learn from. He also allows struggles to be upon us in our lives in order to turn us back to Him.
The blessings can be as simple as paying for someone else’s coffee or someone that pays for yours. Another blessing could be actually having your computer work the way it is supposed to for the day, or a mother, father or family member or your spouse pack you a nice lunch. It could be your spouse bringing you a nice lunch. It could be looking at your bank account without worrying about how you will pay them, because you have enough money for the month in your savings. It could be as simple as realizing how blessed you are for the family and friends that you have and being thankful for them. It can also be as simple as being thankful that you have a job.
We are allowed to have fun and enjoy our lives. We don’t always have to be afraid of what may happen and dread day to day existence. That is totally not what God wants for us.
The book of Ecclesiastes gives us another look into the way God wants us to live our lives. Ecclesiastes 5:19 says, “15 So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 6:9 says “Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless—like chasing the wind.” (NLT)
Proverbs 16: 3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
When the days come that knock us down, it is also important to remember that those days that are difficult do not last forever. God didn’t let Jesus die on the cross and then just leave His one and only son hanging. He had Jesus rise again from the dead. It’s the same thing with us as His children. He doesn’t let us stay on the ground, trapped in the burdens of this life forever. He wants us to get up and say with confidence “I can accomplish whatever He wants me to do.” Be the one that takes in the blessings each and every day, no matter how you may feel. After all perspective is everything. Everything in your life can be a blessing if you allow it to be.
