“I See Love” is a song by Third Day’s lead singer, Mac Powell, Mercy Me’s lead singer Bart Millard and another Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman. They do this song as a trio. The song describes Jesus in many ways. Some say He is a teacher, healer, a martyr and a hero who set His people free. He is also seen as a daydreamer and a fool dying for His dreams. But the most important feature and description of Jesus comes when the chorus starts. It says, “I See Love”. Hence the title of the song. Jesus’s most important feature is His love for each and every one of us. The Lyrics are as follows:
The first verse is song by Bart Millard.
1st verse: Some see a teacher standing on a hill speaking words of wisdom. Some see a healer reaching out His hand to give sight to a blind man. Some see a dreamer wasting His life for what can never be. Some see a fool dying for His dream. Chorus: But I see love, I see love. Light of heaven breaking through. But I see grace, I see God’s face. Shining pure and perfect Love. When I see You, I see love. As stated before some see Jesus as a teacher speaking the wisdom that the world needs to hear, desperately. Jesus also reached out His hand to give sight and to heal many other sick people. However, the Pharisee’s thought Jesus was merely a waste of time and wasting His life for people that could never be saved. They even called Him a fool for dying to save all of us. But like the chorus says, I see love. Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice with His love. He truly was the light of Heaven breaking through. We see grace when we see God’s face. His love is pure and perfect. When we see Jesus in our lives and in our hearts and minds, we see love.
The 2nd verse is sung by Steven Curtis Chapman: Some see a prisoner alone before His judge with no one to defend him. Some see a victim beaten and abused with all the world against Him. Some see martyr carrying His cross for what He believes. Some see a hero who set His people free. But I see love, I see love. Light of heaven breaking through. I see grace, I see God’s face. Shining pure and perfect. Love when I see You. I see love. Jesus was alone before His judge without anyone to defend Him. He was also a victim and He was beaten and abused with the entire world against Him. He was also seen as a martyr carrying the cross for the love that He has and had for every single person. Jesus was and is also known as a hero who set His friends and all people free.
The bridge is sung by both Mac Powell and Bart Millard. The bridge depicts what we see through Jesus.
: With your last breath, I see love. Through Your death I see life. I see peace in the eyes of a King. I see hope in Your suffering (I see love). I see a calm in the center of a storm. I see a savior. With Jesus’s last breath and His death, we see the love that He has for us and through His death we see life. We are all saved through Him. We can find peace through knowing Jesus and find hope in our suffering. No matter what we are going through we can be calm in the center of any storm in our lives. Jesus gives us the ultimate peace and calmness no matter what we may be going through. Jesus is our savior.
Chorus: I see love, I see love. Light of heaven breaking through. I see grace, I see God’s face. Shining pure and perfect. Love when I see You. I see love. Some see Him walking from an empty grave. This song gives us a great description of who Jesus was to many including the Pharisees as well as both believers and non-believers alike in both biblical times and believers in our generation. The last phrase is about Him rising from the dead, on Easter morning. Jesus and His love need to be felt by this entire world and people all around the world need to hear His word and messages. His love is evident in everything in our lives. When we model our lives after Him we not only see His love, we are showing the world His love.
