When God takes something away from you, He does it for a reason. You may never fully understand it, but His reason is always behind it. As are His goals and plans for your life. If He didn’t love you He would not have brought you this far. If He didn’t have a plan for you, He would not have given the strength and courage to get to where you are right now.
What a lot of people don’t understand about God is that He does not merely take things away from them just to be a vengeful or hateful God, just to punish them. Nothing in life ever happens without God ordaining it first, whether it is strife, to build someone’s character, or good times to make memories of, and thank him for. He knows the steps every person is going to take in life.
Also, remember that God does not allow bad things to happen to good people. He allows them to happen to test their faith. Those tests from God can be one of the most difficult and rewarding things to ever experience. But once you get through them, you can look back and say “God I know that was you. I know you got me through this test, and I know that when the next one comes, you will be with me too.
He does not take something or someone away from you just to “get back at you, either. It could just be God giving you the time to focus on other things in your life, or it could be Him trying to get your attention and teach you a lesson that needed to be learned in that specific way.
When you are down and miserable saying to Him, “Why did you do this to me? Why did you take (name whatever is gone) away from me? How could you do this to me?” Remember it is not God always taking things and people out of your life in order to punish you. Instead, He could and probably is doing it to protect you and your heart, soul and your mind from future damage. If you continue to go down the path of blaming God for the things that happen to you, just stop for a second and remember that God does not take things out of your life to punish you. He may take something or someone away from you in order to give you a break, teach you a lesson, give you peace, or, help you see the truth. Maybe the truth is that you are better off without that something or someone in your life. Maybe a cold or sickness as awful as it seems at the time could be a sign from God that you need to rest more and slow down the pace of your life.
As an example of a test that someone could go through in life, let’s say you sing and then you get sick for days with laryngitis and you cannot sing. It may drive you crazy, but if God gave you the singing voice in the first place, it could be His way of teaching you not to take the gift He has given you, for granted. It could also mean that He wants you to rest. Even though it can be extremely difficult to not be able to relieve stress or just enjoy singing like you usually did for a while, you can know in your heart that God will deliver you from this trial. He will give you your voice back but in His timing.
If He wants you to slow down and enjoy other things other than singing, He will let that happen for you. He knows the plans He has for you which include plans to give you a hope and a future. God does not want to harm you as His child. That is never His intention. He never tests you in order to harm you. He tests you in order to see whether you turn towards Him in praise, asking Him for help, or if you turn away from Him completely.
It can be hard to not look down while going through the lessons that God gives you. The good news is that He also always gives you a way through the lessons. Whether you have to crawl, walk, or climb over obstacles, you will come through them on the other side. The reasons that He gives, may not be known right away, but once they are revealed, they will often sharpen your mindset and help you keep your focus on Him whenever the next trial hits. Instead of thinking about how hard it is to lose something or someone that you love, try to think of it as God protecting your heart from further damage. God already knows what and who is best for you. He will not let you go through more than you can handle.
Whatever God removes from your life, trust that He knows what is best and that He is protecting you from anything that could harm you.
