In life, we all experience setbacks and disappointments. We all have times when things don’t go the way we planned. If we’re not careful, those negative experiences can attach themselves to us, weigh us down and hold us back. We have to realize that what has happened in the past doesn’t have to define our future. God made us for more than just barely getting by. We weren’t meant to sit on the sidelines of life because with God, we are on the winning team!

I love what my sister, Lisa, writes in her newly released book, You Are Made for More. She begins with a declaration of faith:

“I am God’s masterpiece, created for a purpose and destiny.
I am made for more than surviving in life, I will thrive in life!
God is at work in my life and He will perfect everything that concerns me.
I have a good and bright future.
God is turning my scars into stars.joel osteen, daily inspiration, words of hope and inspiration, God's love
I am strong, overcoming, and soaring over every obstacle.
God can and will bring me to a flourishing finish.
God is bringing my dreams to pass in His perfect timing.
I am bold and courageous to act against fear.
I am safe in my Father’s hands.
I am letting go of the past and moving forward with God…”

Lisa is an amazing woman of faith, joy and integrity, and I admire her so much. She is more than my sister; she is a hero to me as well. Throughout her life, she has experienced and overcome so my trials from a life-threatening illness to a broken marriage, broken dreams and the loss of people she has loved. Yet, she has kept the faith and has come out victorious every single time! Her life is fueled by her passion for the things God and seeing people rise higher and becoming all that God has called them to be.

If you sense in your heart that there are higher levels in life to strive for, I encourage you to pick up a copy of her book, You Are Made for More. It’s a great way to start the New Year, and I’m confident that she will inspire you like she inspires me! In the meantime, why don’t you make this confession a part of your everyday routine? Print it out and tape on your mirror. Keep it in your purse or on your desk at work. Let the truth of these words ring in your heart because you are made for more!
