Many people want to be saved from God… Yes, from not by…. They don’t really want intimacy with the words of God, where his spirit deeply penetrates their hearts and changes them. They want something that inoculates them with just enough religion on Sunday to immunize them from God the rest of the week. I think the term the bible uses is lukewarm Christians… So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth- Revelations 3:16. Whhhaaatt???
Well, that is a bit scary to think about but let me tell you a story before I go on about how to really follow Jesus.. I was listening to a man named Dean Braxton speak, who experienced cardiac arrest and actually died for one hour and forty five minutes, according to medical records. He speaks all over the world; talking in detail about his time in the “third” heaven which is the throne room. Dean was united with Jesus Christ and his family, like his grandmother Mary. He says that Jesus looked at him with such love and what he experienced in Heaven is nothing like what is on this earth. Everything is alive and worships The Lord. He said that everything is just perfect and right in Heaven. Dean, also went on to say he was also reunited with his aunt Barbara who he thought for sure would not be in heaven. Dean talked about the importance of prayer and how God hears every single one of our prayers and acts on our behalf. One of the most profound things Dean said was he was surprised by the fact of some individuals who were not in Heaven, that he thought would for sure be there. Dean was sure the reason some were not united with God was because of a “heart issue”. God knows our hearts and Dean believes that matters more than we can ever know.
Jesus says, ” If you love me, you will keep my commandments. People who do not know Jesus’ heart read his words and consider them too hard. Their problem lies in the fact that they have missed His grace. Both grace and truth are realized in Jesus. When Jesus gives you something that seems impossible, you may feel unable to obey His commands immediately. Try and keep them in your heart, however, and hold them fast and know His words are for you. He will give you the tools to follow through. Following Jesus is not always about comfort and once we start welcoming a life of adventure, we begin what is called the “Preparatory Life” There are no short cuts with God but we do determine how long it takes to get to the abundant life, there is only one way and that is the right way. Our God is a God of integrity not a God we can manipulate.
We try and convince ourselves, “Well, I am not as bad as so and so!” Those are lies from the enemy. Satan actually protects those areas of sin in our life with justification and rationals. True repentance equals real change. God will help you expose those areas of deception in your own life and then begin to heal you so you can be on your way to the “Abundant Life” with Jesus. Grace is NOT an excuse for bad behavior but grace is meant for change.
So, how do we begin… Read God’s word (EVERDAY). Jesus says, devour my body and drink my blood which means, the word. The word is ALIVE and it literally can transform our hearts and mind but we need it everyday in order to move in Gods direction. The word will uproot sin, strongholds, and bondage that the enemy has you tied up in knots over. The second thing, is to repent which means owning your B.S.. Once you do this, then it is no longer your burden to carry but Gods. The third and final thing is too trust God enough that you begin to surrender to His will for your life. Let me prefaces this by saying that God’s will is actually good for us because He knows what you love, your talents and what makes you come alive because He created you.
You will NEVER have a greater meeting with God than when He comes living and breathing through the scriptures into your heart. Think about it, that same spirit who comes to meet you in scripture and speak to you there is the same one who breathed all of us and everything living thing into existence.. I mean if that is not Good news, then I don’t know what is..
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7… Now can you see why Satan wants to keep you from all that God wants to give you freely. Don’t allow Satan to rob you of what God wants to give you… Miracles, Blessings, Favor, Wisdom and Love
