I went and listened to this dynamic young pastor last night and want to share the sermon with you. It was powerful and very necessary.
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm- Proverbs 13:20
We all have people in our lives that are cheering us on in our God given destiny or leading us astray with their own perceptions and wrong mind- sets. Who is your first line of defense when facing anything challenging? Is Jesus your first response or your last resort? Has anyone else died for you so that you would have life, full and abundantly?
These are questions we all need to be asking ourselves when surrounding ourselves with others because we are the company we keep. Here are 5 characteristics to avoid in all of your relationships.
1. The cooler- The cooler is the person that thinks you are crazy for even having a relationship with God. They do not want you to be on fire for God or much of anything else that will value to your life. They may even make fun of you when you pray.
2. The Sprinter- This person is quick to speak and slow to listen to others. They will give advice but deny responsibility. They very much enjoy gossip and behave like fools. They do not come to your aid.
3.The Denier- They pick and choose what they believe from the Bible. They do not live in the light and are deceived. Do not get side tracked with people who are off track when it comes to the word of God.
4. The Feeder- These are people who do not want to cultivate anything for themselves. They do not go after their dreams and feed off of others for their needs.
5. The Energizer- These people never run out of negativity. You can not hang our with negative people and have a positive life. They crush your dreams with their words and actions. They dismiss what is important to you.
Sometimes we must clean house in our relationships so we don’t get deterred from our own destiny. Don’t allow anyone to stop you from reaching your full potential in Jesus. Nothing is impossible with God so let him be the person you confide in , in all areas of your life. Give him the control and you will be on the right track with endless possibilities.
Find friends who give your spiritual strength and tell you the truth.
The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the wicked lead them astray
