The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil; and goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed sprouts up and grows- how, he himself does not know. The soil produces crops by itself; first the blade, the the head, the the mature grain in the head. he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come- Mark 4:26-29
This is a parable about how Jesus compared the Kingdom of God to a farmer who waits for his crops to mature. The farmer is concerned with 2 things…. quality and quantity of his crops.
God is looking for people who want to stand in the gap… Standing in the Gap means becoming mature in Christ. It does not mean disobedience, it means complete obedience ( taking every thought captive with Christ) is how we mature with Christ- “mature grain in the head.”
However, just like farmers deal with weather and soil conditions, we also deal with storms that can permit us to grow if we don’t allow hope to diminish. How long this takes, no one knows but Christ. Christians like many become easily offended, exhausted, distracted without prayer and spiritual discipline. We are barely hanging on dealing with one event after another of disappointments, disasters, and feeling alone in this great big world. We think how can I hang on in this storm? We just want it over! Yet, God is saying I am here and I am with you. He is looking for Christians who look to Him for their nourishment and guidance. He feeds us with His spirit and word so that we have every resource we need to obtain His very character.
God wants to pull us back to true values and true hearts. He is looking for people who want to stand in the gap between heaven and earth. This does not mean judgment. retaliation, or bitterness but love. He is clear when He says that love covers a multitude of sins. When we are moved by love, it means that we believe all, hope all, and endure all.
Our whole assignment here on earth is to become like Jesus so as soon as it looks hopeless, God says “ask me and it will be given.” Whatever you are lacking in, ask! Is it faith? Is it trust? Is it strength? Is it courage? Is it Love? Remember, these are the eternal things that last forever.
As you measure others, it will be measured back to you! How can we love Jesus and not love others? How can we say we believe and then turn around and mistreat others? We must ask God to help us become un-offendable so He can use us for His good. How amazing would life be if we could learn to just love, period? I guarantee there would be blessings upon blessings. It is a walk but everyday we have one choice and that is going to Him and He will do a good work in us. I know we all want to be loved but are we loving others? Its hard, I know but so necessary for our own good.
I watched the Espy awards and listened to Bruce Jenner aka- Caitlyn Jenner speak and in that moment all I saw was another human being who just wanted to be loved and accepted. As tears rolled down my cheeks, all judgement was gone and I was rooting for her soul to flourish. We are all united by our creator- Isn’t it time we behave like it?
