We spend a lot of life planning for vacations when we could, in fact, make our lives into extended working vacations. I go into detail on this in my book Creating a Charmed Life, in the chapter “Practice the Vacation Principle.” Suffice it to say for now that life is supposed to be Disneyland. A few rides are off-limits if you want a great life — the illegality ride, the immorality ride, the self-destruction ride, and the don’t-care-about-others ride. Everything else is yours to enjoy.
So: on this very day, this very weekend, get out and explore your very own part of the world. Take notes or take pictures. Immerse yourself. Tourists find everything fascinating. For them, even tired, old lines from a veteran tour guide are fresh and new. Be like that. It’ll keep you young and charm your life.
