Children are like little sponges who take in and absorb our fears and anxieties more than we can possibly comprehend. At a time when many people are experiencing financial challenges and uncertainty, it is very important that we take the time to reassure and comfort our children.

Even though you may be stressed and anxious, it is essential to your child’s sense of safety and well-being that you let them know that you are strong and will get through whatever  circumstances lie before you. As long as your children see that you are okay, they will be okay. Afterall, you are their first line of defense and if you appear hopeless and defeated they will, in all likelihood, begin to feel anxious and frightened themselves.

Here’s a beautiful prayer to say together as a family:

The light of God surrounds us;
The love of God enfolds us;
The power of God protects us;
The presence of God watches over us.
Wherever we are, God is.
And all is well.
