Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti who experienced a devastating 7.0 earthquake yesterday. This is the first earthquake of this magnitude in Haiti in over 200 years and thousands are either missing or presumed dead. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world where 8 out of 10 people live in poverty and 70% of their population is unemployed. This is a crushing blow to what is already the most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere.

Hilary Clinton’s Chief of Staff, Cheryl Mills has asked all those who
can to help to donate $10 by texting “HAITI” to “90999.” Your donation will be immediately sent to the Red Cross to aid the
relief efforts and your $10 donation will then be charged on your cell phone
bill.
You may also give  directly on the Red Cross site or call them at 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) or 1-800-257-7575 (Español).

Let’s rally and do what we can.

Here’s a prayer for the Haitians:

Dear God,
We ask that you surround the people in Haiti
in a blanket of your love, light and protection.
Please ease their pain and suffering and help
guide the rescue workers to find and save all
those who are still alive. Keep the relief workers
safe as they do your work saving precious lives.
May the people of the world respond in prayer
and loving support to help do whatever they can
to bring aid to all those who suffer. May all those
in need receive food, clothing, care and comfort
in this time of great need.
And so it is.
Amen.

Peace & Blessings to All!
