Look at the cases of professional golfer Tiger Woods cheating on Elin Nordegren and actor Ben Affleck cheating on actress Jennifer Garner! What really gives here? These gals seemingly have it all. They have looks money and a family. But infidelity has little to do with appearance, wealth, education or social status, writer Stacey Freeman explained. Cheating is not based on appearances, capital or social class, it is a character defect. "When your spouse cheats it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with him or her. Cheating is a unilateral decision, a choice your spouse made without you," she wrote. Some couples press on and make it work, while others go to divorce court. Being in the spotlight is added pressure on a marriage when an affair is uncovered, but many celebrities hang in there and let things slide. Bill and Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton stuck it out with Bill through the Monica Lewinsky scandal and other affairs through the years. When she was campaigning for her husband in 1992, Gennifer Flowers released tapes of her conversations with Bill Clinton that confirmed them having an affair. But Hillary remained by Bill's side. She said during an interview she was not blindly defending her husband out of archaic duty. “I’m not sitting here, some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette,” she said. But she stuck by her man and added: “I’m sitting here because I love him, and I respect him, and I honor what he’s been through and what we’ve been through together.” We all can smirk at this faulty relationship with a flawed man, but Hillary used it to her advantage to become the Senator of New York with little political experience and to become the 67th Secretary of State under Barack Obama.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban

Actress Nicole Kidman and country singer Keith Urban seemed to survive rumors of Urban sleeping with a model while in drug rehab. Amanda Wyatt alleged that Urban was unfaithful with her during Kidman's and Urban's engagement. She shared that she felt sorry for Nicole. "Keith cheated on her repeatedly with me, right up to just before they got married,'' Wyatt told the press. "He's done it once, and he'll probably do it again. I know him as well as anyone, and while he can be charming and loving, he is also someone who is constantly fighting his demons, but leopards don't change their spots." The struggles in their marriage have been reported in the tabloids for over 10 years, but the couple seems to be holding on for now.

David and Victoria Beckham

Soccer star David and singer Victoria Beckham seemed to have it all together and this included a solid marriage. Yet, stories surfaced about Beckham having an affair with an escort earlier in their marriage. However, they were able to work it out and now have children. "I have never listened to, or commented on, the rumors about any aspect of my life," Victoria explained about the relationship. "I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and beautiful, healthy, happy children." The couple renewed their wedding vows after 17 years of marriage. "Whenever we’ve come up against tough times, we know each other better than anybody knows us so we talk. We stay together because we love each other," David said.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Mathew Broderick

Fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker experienced drama in her marriage to actor Matthew Broderick, who was accused of cheating while his wife was working on "Sex and the City: The Movie" in Los Angeles. According to published reports, Broderick met the woman at a bar and later started texting her. They started meeting each other for dates but ultimately ended the affair. After being married for over 17 years, the actress stuck it out and gave her husband the benefit of the doubt. "I'm really lucky that he is the father of my son, but that doesn't mean that we always agree on everything. We've had some rather treacherous train rides," she said. The rumors of the affair finally dissolved. "I'm happy to be with him regardless but I'm sure there are many times he wishes he wasn't with me," she added.

Jude Law and Sienna Miller

Actor Jude Law was engaged to actress Sienna Miller for less than a year when news came out that he cheated with the nanny. Jude issued an apology and explained he was deeply ashamed and upset that he hurt Sienna and the people most close to them. "I want to publicly apologize to Sienna and our respective families for the pain I have caused. There is no defense for my actions which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time.” The story didn't end up as well as the others. The couple did try to work through the incident for a few years, but they decided to part ways. However, they remained friends and parted on good terms, which is a rarity in Hollywood.
