Divorce can be messy and unpleasant for anyone, but when you have celebrity status and very expensive assets, things can be a lot more complex. Especially if there is no prenuptial agreement in place. Grab some tissues and  get ready to cry over some our favorite former Hollywood couples as we take a look at nine of Hollywood's expensive celebrity divorces. 

Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd – 6 million dollars

Jennifer Lopez's whirlwind romance with backup dancer Cris Judd ended almost as fast as it began. The pair met on Lopez's video Love Don't Cost a Thing. Judd had said during their first encounter he told himself he was going to marry Lopez. Judd proposed to Lopez during a barbecue months after the news broke about the new couple. In September 2001, the couple wed in a secret ceremony where several individuals were arrested for scaling the walls to obtain photos. The couple split in 2002 on the heels of Jennifer's new movie Gigli with future and present boyfriend Ben Affleck and officially divorced in 2003. Jennifer denied all the Affleck affair rumors and insisted dating only began after her separation from Judd.

Hulk Hogan and Linda Hogan – 10million dollars

The divorce between Hulk Hogan and former wife Linda was extremely messy and cost Hulk a fortune. Hulk, born Terry Bollea, rose to fame in the 1980s and is regarded as one of the world's best wrestlers of all time. For the long run with Hulk, Linda Hogan was in it and married him long before his career started rolling in dough. A few years before Hulk retired from the ring, Linda called it quits on their 23-year marriage citing Hulk cheated. In the divorce settlement, it was clear Linda came out with the victory. She was awarded over seven million dollars from the joint investment accounts, while Hulk was given three million dollars. She was also awarded a three million dollar property settlement and given 40 percent control in Hulk's companies. Hulk had to sell many of his real-estate properties to pay Linda the 1.5 million dollars he owed her from the property settlement.  

Ted Danson and Casey Coates – 30 million dollars 

Reba McEntire and Navel Blackstock - 45.5 million dollars

Reba McEntire shocked the world when she walked away from her 25-year marriage to manager Navel Blackstock. The divorce details are somewhat unknown, with Reba only saying that someone in the marriage was unhappy during interviews. She did not want to keep anyone shackled to her because life was too short to be miserable. For almost 26 years, the couple was regarded as one of the Country's most dynamic duos. Navel is the one who filed for divorce, which Reba had a tough time with. In recent years, the country superstar has opened up about the adjustments she had to make after her divorce was finalized. Reba has credited God as her primary strength that helped her with guidance.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills – 50 million dollars

The highly-publicized divorce between Heather Mills and former Beatles member Paul McCartney was a disaster. Mills tried seeking a 250 million dollar payout from McCartney's 800 million dollar fortune. The judge presiding over the divorce immediately threw out Heather's claims as being ridiculous and only offered the model six percent of McCartney's assets. Heather was only awarded a lump sum of 33 million dollars plus the assets which she owned that has a value of 17 million dollars. Many experts were shocked that Heather did not receive more in the divorce considering it was a high-wealth case.  

Guy Ritchie and Madonna – 95 million dollars

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren – 100 million dollars

After many of Tiger Wood's infidelities came to light, Elin Nordegren filed for divorce after six years of marriage to the professional golfer. The couple shared two children and ensured that neither would suffer in the divorce. It's likely the infidelities contributed to such a high settlement for Elin. She also received monthly child-support 20 thousand dollar payments, plus the family home that was later sold.

Garth Brooks and Sandy Mahl – 125 million dollars

Although Garth Brooks and Sandy Mahl went their separate ways amicably, the country superstar would have one of the most expensive divorces of all time after paying Sandy 125 million dollars. The couple shares three daughters and focused on healthy co-parenting afterward. Like many entertainer divorces, Brook's former wife Sandy Mahl cited his busy touring schedule for the collapse of their marriage. Over time they just drifted apart, and it was apparent that separation was the only option. Garth Brooks is now married to another country superstar Trisha Yearwood and is happy.

Adele and Simon Konecki – 171 million dollars

In 2019, Adele and her husband Simon Kinecki announced their separation after eight years of being together and married for three. The couple shares a son and stated they are focused on raising their son together lovingly. Their divorce was anything but loving. It was Adele's work schedule that would be the factor in driving the couple apart. It was Simon who made the divorce bitter. He demanded most of Adele's wealth because he felt it was also his since the fortune was obtained during their marriage. Adele, worth 180 million dollars, signed off on one of the most expensive celebrity divorces giving Simon Konecki 171 million dollars. 

It is always sad when your favorite Hollywood couple calls it quits.  No one wants to admit they secretly wait for the juicy details to emerge that give you a glimpse into their real life. Regardless it must be exhausting to have to put your divorce under the spotlight for all of the world to see and become very vulnerable. We are glad to see for many of the families that even in divorce, their number one priority is maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship for their children.  Here's to hoping we see a lot more love in the future and less heartache.
