6 Christian Celebrities Who Taught Us Valuable Life Lessons

More times than we care to see or hear, celebrities make it into the newswire for their mistakes and mishaps. Tabloids and entertainment media outlets love to capitalize off of shocking posts that are essentially deemed as click bait. However, occasionally, a good reporter will cover stories about valuable lessons that Christian celebrities are creating. You’re probably use to hearing about popular Christians Tim Tebow and Carrie Underwood doing great things for their communities, but what about the other Christians? There are so many other fantastic Christian celebrities that teach us all life lessons by lending their advice to situations we’ve all experienced – or by perhaps providing a snapshot of their life, in order for others to see the full picture.

It’s somewhat refreshing and reassuring to listen and receive wisdom from prolific figures who’ve experienced a wide array of things in their life. God speaks to us all in different ways because each individual has a different path and destiny; however, having the opportunity to cultivate life from a variety of styles will help others reach their potential. Faith Hill

Faith Hill was raised in a Baptist home. She told The Washington Post, "That’s where my strength comes from. It’s my foundation. I was raised in a Christian home and it prepared me to deal with life on my own." The country music superstar has won five Grammy Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, six American Music Awards, and a handful of other prestigious honors.

Hill was born in Ridgeland, Mississippi – and was adopted as an infant. Not only was Hill’s vocal talent evident early on, but she began as early as 9-years-old singing at church and later in her early teen years she began auditioning for various music gigs. It wasn’t until the early 90s when Hill finally began topping the Billboard charts – and when she recorded her second album she faced surgery for a ruptured blood vessel on her vocal cords. Throughout her career, Hill has demonstrated the power of hard work and determination. No matter what she was faced with, Hill has persevered and beat the odds. Her strength shows, other Christians, that life is what you make out of it – never give up and follow your dreams.

Kathie Lee Gifford

Kathie Lee Gifford is a household name. Gifford has conquered everything that she has ventured in during her career – singer, song writer, comedian, and host. Throughout her time in the limelight, Gifford has always been very outspoken about her Christian faith and how Billy Graham ultimately led her to Christ. Recently, on Dr. Oz, Gifford discussed how faith has guided her throughout life and allowed her to live a healthy day-to-day. After the death of her husband Frank, Gifford continued to talk about how faith was her foundation and would get her through the difficult time.

Gifford has taught us that faith plays a role in your life every minute. Your faith impacts every facet of life because faith becomes a natural rhythm of your life. Gifford references, in many interviews, how watching a Billy Graham movie at 12-years-old inspired her to lead a life for her Lord and Savior. There’s no doubt that Gifford’s experiences and willingness to discuss them openly has taught the world that faith should be demonstrated in everything you do – it’s not just an every Sunday role, but instead an every minute one.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban both have very successful careers – Nicole as an actress and Keith as a talented country artist. However, both came into their relationship with “baggage” so to speak. With Nicole’s very public divorce from actor Tom Cruise, many questioned if her relationship with Keith would last. Moreover, Keith’s struggles with alcohol addiction became a widely discussed topic throughout the media wires. However, the couple stuck together and never looked back.

“As an observer, I would say his faith is a strength,” Father Ed Steiner of The Cathedral of Incarnation exclusively told CelebBuzz. He has mentored the couple and believes that faith has assisted in Keith’s sobriety. While the couple oftentimes does not discuss their relationship, it is clear that they both are faith driven. Their struggles and triumph teaches others that any mountain can be climbed – and God does provide second chances no matter what type of “baggage” you believe that to have.

Reba McEntire

In a 2009 interview with the Toronto Star Reba McEntire said, "You don’t have to categorize or label me. Just say that I’m a true believer in a higher power. My faith has always been very important to me. I don’t know how I would have survived in this world without it.” McEntire has never been quiet about her faith in God, in fact she told The Christian Post that God is her best friend. She told The Christian Post, “I just feel like the people who are discouraged about religion, it's [really] the connotation of people that go to church. People that go to church love the Lord and they like to be around people who love the Lord. It's a fellowship and it's a growth and it's a feeding for them that when they're in a social group of people who believe, it makes them grow spiritually.”

McEntire’s strong faith in the Lord is contagious. She teaches all Christians that spiritual growth can make all the difference in life. Surround yourself with good Christians that also believe in the power of the Lord. Never allow others to lead you astray – and when you are dealing with a difficult situation in life, talk to the man upstairs.

Philip Rivers

Philip Rivers, quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, has always lived a very Catholic oriented life. Rivers and his wife Tiffany have been together since high school. The couple have talked about their devout faith and how their religion has helped them build a family. Rivers has discussed the importance of faith in a number of interviews. When Rivers spoke with the blog “Living the Faith on a High Wire” he said, “No matter what the outcome of the game, you come home and you’re still dad to your kids. And that’s where it really settles in, that, as important and as much time as you put into football, they (family) think you did great no matter what.”

Rivers went on to say, “That balance of the family at home, with our faith; teaching the kids the faith, having family prayer, going to Mass together and then football… That’s our role as dads. It is raising our kids in the faith. We always say a blessing at supper, the family rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet; things they can see and touch, that has long lasting impact on them and they can carry it into their families one day.” Rivers teaches other Christians that life is not about the fame and glamour – in fact, at the end of the day the only things that really matter are faith and family.
