Grapple with your doubt
An honest grappling with doubt can lead to faith. For some of us, doubt is the space where we ask hard questions, wrestle with angels, and fight our way toward faith. Some of the great saints of Christian history struggled profoundly with faith: St. Augustine, St. John of the Cross, Mother Teresa, C.S. Lewis, and even the writers of Scripture -- Job, Jeremiah, and the Psalmists. In the midst of my own struggle, I took comfort in this community of believers who lived hard lives, asked hard questions, and openly expressed their anger at God. If they kept faith, maybe I could, too.
