Phil and Miss Kay

Phil Robertson is a life-long duck hunter and the creator of the original duck commander. Growing up poor, he played college football on an athletic scholarship at Louisiana Tech and was even recruited to play for the Washington Redskins, an opportunity he declined because his real passion was for hunting.

Phil is happily married to his high school sweetheart Kay (referred to in Duck Dynasty as “Miss Kay”). Their relationship was strained in its early years by Phil’s dependence on alcohol, which caused him to briefly leave his Kay and their children. However, after a brief amount of time spent apart, Phil returned, repented of his sins, and accepted Jesus as his savior. To this day, Phil leads the family in prayer before dinner every night and credits his faith for saving him from his addiction and restoring his life. His love for the outdoors has lead to his constant worry of his grandchildren becoming “yuppies.”
