If you are of a certain age, you might remember creating mix tapes of some of the best songs you had on hand or borrowed from friends. (If you are not in that age bracket, you might be interested to know that before the internet and CDs, we had to share our music on cassette tapes. If you don’t know what a cassette tape is, stop reading and ask your parents.) Many of these tapes were created during the summer creating fun music to listen to short trips and what not. You get the idea.

If you are like me, you appreciate praise and worship music, but much of what is out there is too slow for a real summer collection. When you’re on the road, you don’t want music that is going to put you to sleep. Here is a suggested list of fairly new praise songs that will keep your toes tapping and give your spirit a lift at the same time.

It’s Your Revolution by Tim Timmons

“If there’s a word for me it’s ‘inviting,’ “says Tim Timmons on his website. “I want to invite people into a conversation about Jesus.” All of his music pretty much does that. In “It’s Your Revolution,” Timmons offers up himself to God to do what He see’s best and invites us along for the ride. This music is soft with just a few instruments and a children’s choir in the background, but it will stick with you.
