Christian Basketball Players Conquering the Game

Being in the NBA, it can be easy for the players to get wrapped up in the fame and forget where they come from. However these Christian basketball stars are doing just the opposite. Instead of defining themselves by their status, they choose to define themselves as followers of Christ.

These Christian players are choosing to honor God on and off the basketball court and through their talents. They are opening up about their faith journeys and sharing it with people who may have never gotten to know Christ otherwise. Despite backlash from non-believers that believe faith should be separated from sports, they have actively made sure that they are representing God during the game and in all things they do.

These men of faith are not wavering in their convictions. They are living their lives for God by giving back to charity, speaking the Word on social media platforms, and sharing their faith with teammates, coaches and fans. Here are seven Christian basketball stars killing the game today.

Previous forward of the LA Clippers Blake Griffin grew up in a strong Christian household. His parent’s homeschooled Blake to make sure they could instill core Christian values. He is a devout evangelical and considered to be saved at the age of 6. He quickly joined the Fellowship of Christian Athletes during college, and leaned on God during hardship over his career. At one point, Griffin broke his kneecap. In a statement he said “I was just excited about the opportunity to play in the NBA. I was ready to go, but everything came crashing down, so to speak. But these things happen. That was God’s way of just humbling me.” In the end it worked out, and he became a big name in the basketball game.
