Not All Muslims Observe Ramadan
Not all Muslims observe Ramadan, but some do, just like people of every other faith.
The end of this year’s World Cup has generated a great deal of media attention surrounding Islam, Muslims and Ramadan – the month-long period of physical, mental and spiritual purification, generosity, and solidarity among Muslims. While this issue has distracted World Cup viewers from the real issue at hand (soccer), it also offers an opportunity to discuss the exotification of Islam and its many traditions, as well as the power of the mind, spirituality and the incredible impact this can have in the lives of professional athletes.
