The Mary Tyler Moore Show
The show wasn't about families, being dysfunctional or like other shows during it's time; instead The Mary Tyler Moore Show was centered around a single woman who stood on her own. Mary Tyler Moore was the never married, independent career woman that was a central character on a television show. Mary was different from the other women on television because she wasn't seeking a man to support her.
In 2007, Time magazine named The Mary Tyler Moore show as one of the 17 shows that changed television. The show was centered around sophisticated conversation amongst grown ups. Producers and writers from 30 Rock and Friends say that they were inspired by The Mary Tyler Moore Show and tried to center their series finales to mirror the ground breaking series.
